I didn't know him, but Allen wrote to congratulate me on my latest book, and it was so obvious that his was a big, giving heart. I checked out his poetry & found a double talent when I saw that he was also an artist. --Editor

Writing for me started at a very early age, I was about nine years old when I first realized that the world of my imagination could easily be shared with others by simply writing down my thoughts on paper. After that, it then took me nearly four decades to conclude that I had desired all along to share my writings on a much broader scale, like in book form or public speaking. Therefore, I began to look into ways of making it a tangible reality.

Time To Play, Deborah Carraro

One of the biggest challenges faced by solo-entrepreneurs is scheduling personal time - time away from the business. It's particularly challenging when you're first starting your business. Your natural impulse is to throw everything you have into your business - time, money, energy - but that may not be the wisest course of action.

WHAT DO YOU FEED YOUR MIND?, Catherine Pulsifer

On what do you feed your mind?

One of my major concerns today is that a lot of people feed their mind with television. We increasingly judge our success and personal worth by television stories - stories of the rich and famous, those who have beauty and the perfect body, those who do little work and still succeed. Yet, this is not reality.

THIS WEEK'S THEMATIC SELECTION

Editor's Note:
This Week's Theme: " Our Search For Spirituality . . . In Its Many Forms"

Wisdom, Laurent Grenier

What is wisdom? But first, what are the conditions that render it desirable, if not necessary, and what is its essential purpose?

Life is a desire to live, and better still a desire to live happily. As we strive to satisfy this desire, we encounter obstacles that complicate or frustrate our efforts. This complication or frustration amounts to suffering because it stands in the way of satisfaction.

Four Powerful Pathways into the Light and Sound, Judith Pennington

The easiest, most exciting adventure in consciousness follows the lamplit guidance of the still, small voice in each of us. In the quiet of meditation, we listen to our souls and hear what is most needed in our lives and how best to obtain it. This wise, kindly voice never fails us and never falters.

There is no substitute for inner listening, as we grow into the soul voice which becomes our own. But in our travels, some or all of these four harmonic pathways open to enhance our joy and draw us into the Oneness.

Company Spotlight - Laura Gulyas of HerbaLife

I am an Herbalife Distributor which I have been doing for almost 5 years now. Having a business as an Herbalife Distributor is unique in that you talk to each customer individually, talk about each product and what it will do for them, and then follow up regularly. So the person is getting great products as well as personalized service. Because of this you build a relationship with your customers, who sometimes become good friends. I think the best thing I like about Herbalife is how the products have changed peoples' lives. Watching a persons health improve, having more energy and enjoying a better quality of life is extremely rewarding.

Author Showcase: Doug Boren

Beyond The Horizons, a historical epic set in the west in the time period during and just after the Civil War, is Doug Boren's 1st published novel, but it certainly won't be his last. This is a story of war, yes. And it's a story of the events that helped shape America into the country it is today. Yet, so much deeper than that, Beyond The Horizons is about human interaction. Doug is a talented wordsmith, and for me it was his thoughtful humanity that showed through the lines and took his inherent writing ability to a more intense, important level. His stories are felt rather than read and, in my opinion, that's what transforms a writer into a storyteller.

Doug was nice enough to let me prod a little, and he answered my questions without hesitation.

The Long Goodbye that Comes to Soon, © Myriam Maytorena, M.Ed.

As an end-of-life caregiver, you are playing a waiting game. You are waiting on death but you also fear its arrival. It may seem that the days and hours seem to just go on and on and there is no end in sight for your suffering or for the suffering of your beloved charge. As we live our lives and finally come to the stage where we are placed into the role of caregiver by circumstances that are normal, we feel like our lives have moved too quickly. Where is the mother or father that you used to turn to for comfort and advice? They are gone and before you is a bed ridden old person that sometimes may appear to be totally out of his or her mind because of diminished capacity or illness. Sometimes it makes you wonder why humans choose to love when leaving can bring such pain.

There's no guesswork - everything is matched for you automatically. But there's also no unique style. No sense of "you" in the finished style. How would you answer this question? Ask yourself, "What am I good at? What do my friends say I am good at? What do I enjoy and feel passionate about? What do I think is important?" The key to your happiness may well be held in the answers.

Press Release

Safety and Service Top Priority in Online Purchases

WebPageOne hosts Retail Exhibition to meet demands

Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) May 16, 2005 -- While home parties through direct sales continue to be one of the best growth sectors in the retail marketplace, many consumers are beginning to turn to the Internet rather than their neighbourhood representative to make their purchases. Web Page One, a leader in online services for small business, is helping to make the process easier and safer for the end customer. From May 28th to June 3rd, the website will play host to a wide variety of direct sale retailers and those who wish to shop from a reliable source at the Summer Sails Event.

“The days of throwing a home party with the lady down the street are slowly being replaced by the increase in consultants taking to cyberspace, but consumer concerns about safety can be a major obstacle. The Summer Sails Event, hosted by Web Page One is designed to eliminate concerns,” explains Lani Erie, who is heading the organizations involvement in the project.

Erie notes that it is important for customers keep safety in mind when making any online purchase. Vendors at the Summer Sails Event, and all events hosted by Web Page One, have been verified as legitimate and have proven records of customer service and delivery.

“You should always do your research before making an online purchase, Web Page One planned this event to help eliminate some of the guesswork for buyers,” says Erie. “Promoting vendors with integrity means that ultimately customers can expect a better than average online shopping experience.”

Web Page One has been pursuing excellence in customer service since it’s inception in 2003. As a leader in providing custom websites and graphics, the company’s vision has grown to include the development of small business events to improve the overall quality of online transactions. The Summer Sails Event is part of the continuing effort to meet the growing consumer interest in online shopping.

For further information on how to keep your online transactions safe or to arrange an interview contact Lani Erie at WebPageOne http://www.webpageone.org/event/ or info@webpageone.org.

Frank Sinatra Learns the Value of Friendship, © Paul Kyriazi

In 1952 Frank Sinatra was down on his luck and singing to small audiences at Skinny D'Amato's club. He planned to go to Africa to visit his wife Ava Gardner who was there filming the movie "Magambo" with Clark Gable. She had sent him the airfare, but Sinatra was broke.

Seated at a lounge table with Joe DiMaggio and Skinny D'Amato, Frank asked the baseball great for a thousand dollar loan so that he could buy Ava a gift.

DiMaggio refused. When Sinatra was absent, DiMaggio said to D'Amato, "I never loan money to a has been." D'Amato asked DiMaggio to loan it to him. Fiquring the powerful nightclub owner was good for it, DiMaggio gave D'Amato a thousand dollars. Later D'Amato gave it to Sinatra. Not loaned, gave.

On top of that, D'Amato bought Sinatra a solid gold watch saying, "This is to remind you that you'll be back on top again. And bigger than before." When Sinatra became the most powerful man in Hollywood a few years later, he never forgot his loyal friend and performed every year at the 500 Club for free.
