Which is King -- Content or How It's Written? © Linda Alexander 2004

There seems to be today an internet philosophy going 'round that content is so much more important than writing skill. If you have something worth saying, something other people can benefit from knowing, and you the "writer" can benefit from enlarging your circulation and name recognition, that is much more crucial than how that article is written, or whether or not it's truly written well.

But is it REALLY the most important part of the marriage?

MEDIA AND EBOOKS

Turn Media Interviews into Sales © Susan Harrow

Many people don't understand what soundbites are. They don't know how to create soundbites that sell. They don't know that it's not enough to be clever, entertaining or quippy. That might make TV and radio hosts happy, but it often won't bring in the kind of results you're looking for: to grow your business, sell more product, get new clients, more customers, or increase your fees.

Live Life Deliberately: Design A Vision for 2005 © Maria Marsala

Sarah Hughes, Gold Metal Skater, had hers at age six. Joseph Campbell, folklore author, found his after visiting the Museum of History in NYC. At age 4, Oprah Winfrey remembers watching her grandmother washing clothes by boiling them - Oprah "knew" then her life would be different. They all found something that raised their inner vibrations, their passion -- and created a vision.

Hot Cocoa: A Health Drink? © Marcia Passos Duffy

I never associated hot cocoa with good health. It was just a better, lower fat alternative to an intense craving for, let's say, ½ pound of dark chocolate devoured in one sitting, or a really big slice of Mud Pie.

Web Page One Designs Recognized for Excellence in Business

Web Page One Designs Recognized for Excellence in Business

Web Page One Designs has been selected for the honor of publication at the Business Owners Idea Cafe. Their profile will initially be announced on Idea Cafe's home page on January 19, 2005 and remain live onsite for 45 days

"Recognition for what we do not only validates all the hard work and effort by everyone connected with Web Page One, it helps illuminate all that we offer for every business owner," Lani Erie of Web Page One Designs said today.

They are looking for ways to let new business owners know that there are places like Web Page One Designs that can offer a place for them to start where there's interaction with professionals and answers to be found beyond Google. Idea Cafe can help them expand their own network and increase membership. They're expecting that anyone with marketing and advertising needs will find their services invaluable.

Web Page One Designs just made the jump to making their Business Empowerment Webinars a monthly occurrence instead of offering them quarterly. This is very exciting for them and they look forward to helping newbie business owners connect with online pros in finding the answers to their many questions.

"Take a look at my attitude." © Linda Alexander 2004

I keep hearing this line lately, in varying words. It's one thing when I read something somewhere, or hear it on the TV or radio . . . and it goes in one ear and out t'other. But when I hear it, then see it, then read it, then hear, read and see it, again and again and again, ad nauseum, then I figure it MUST be time to start paying attention. Maybe I ought to give that
comment a bit of attention.

Smelling the Roses: Better Living Through Savoring, © Maureen Killoran

"Stop and smell the roses," people often say. Then they smile ruefully, because everybody knows there isn’t enough TIME to stop or, as my daughter says, to "chill."

This is the Conventional Wisdom – and I’m here to tell you that the CW is simply WRONG. Researchers in Positive Psychology find that people actually get more done if they take time out to SAVOR their day. Not only that, but, over time, people who set aside a few hours every week are likely to be healthier, more relaxed, and better able to cope with the stresses of everyday life.

Why not try it? Give yourself the gift of Savoring. (Hey, stress is all you have to lose!)

Webinars

What the heck IS an expert, anywho? One definition, as it relates to knowledge management, states: "a person with a high level of combined education, experience, and skill."

We all pick up skills and talents as we move along day by day. It's inevitable, but what makes the difference between those skills being useful or just another step down the road? The difference is awareness. If we're aware of the learning process, aware of how we find ourselves listening to someone else's experience, even in the simplest daily task, we become aware of our growing arsenal of knowledge. We become capable of managing that knowledge, harnessing it into the proverbial "gift that keeps on giving."

Webinars -- an internet movement gaining steam. They're exciting. Contagious. Viral. And very, very important to a generation of folks becoming more aware of a mobile world. While many still, and probably always will, work in traditional offices, keeping a standard Monday-through-Friday schedule, others are tiring of that. It's restrictive to people who want to earn a living by not only picking up a paycheck every two weeks, but by picking up a paycheck earned through their own creativity and the knowledge they've collected through a tapestry of pipelines.

Webinars are online web meetings. Seminars via your keyboard. What a brilliant concept! And while you'll find many, many internet offerings on a vast array of topics, you want to be very careful as to where you go to learn the specific skills you need to further your home-based business, your art, or even your favorite hobby. You want to learn from the experts.

Web Page One Designs offers a monthly creative menu of skills and detailed information via their monthly Business Empowerment Webinars. All in one spot, you can chat about using public speaking as a way to publicize you and your business, how to have fun while you raise funds, start a business with no capital, what the IRS doesn't want you to know, start an ezine, or even learn about Testosterone Free Marketing (want to know what THAT means? You'll have to check out the webinar!) Topics are, literally, limitless and they expand each month. All are led by people with extensive experience in their topic, learned through "combined education, experience, and skill."

Their bios are prominently displayed for your review and you can take one webinar every few months, or you can take them all, every month. They're held in a chatroom on Web Page One's site, they're interactive -- heck, ask as many questions as you'd like, it's a great way to learn -- and there are NO sales pitches.

Oh, one more thing about these fantastic expert-driven webinars. They -- are -- free! Yep, free, as in . . . they cost you nothing. Visit the site at: http://www.webpageone.org/seminar/ and roam around. See how it feels to settle in for a bit of fun learning. Check out your fit. The next round of webinars are scheduled for January 19 and 20, 2005, so get on over there and check them out. And remember, they're monthly, so once you're hooked, you're likely to come back for more.

You have absolutely not a thing to lose, and much to add to your daily skill set. Give Web Page One's webinars a look-see!

Linda Alexander's next appearance is online with Web Page One Designs, http://www.webpageone.org/seminar/ on January 19th and January 20th, presenting webinars on public speaking and creating a top-notch written message. She's also the site's Newsletter Editor. She's not a psychologist or therapist, but IS a graduate of SHE - School of Human Experience. A multi-cultural storyteller, writer & public speaker with lupus, she's published four books, written about porn stars and Messianic Jews, appeared on the Oprah! Show, and interviewed celebrities. Her work has appeared nationally in magazines and newspapers. In her world, anything can happen. It does and she writes about it. Visit her at: http://www.lindajalexander.net.
